Start with the existing and proposed layouts
Provide a simple plan showing the shower or bath, basin, WC, doors and storage. Identify which fittings stay in place and which you would like to move. Share the dimensions and product information for items already selected.
Fitting positions affect the services behind the finished surfaces. If the layout or specification is still being developed, identify the decisions that remain open before agreeing the installation scope.
Describe the room's current condition
Send photographs of the bathroom and accessible services. Describe recurring leaks, staining, damaged finishes, drainage concerns and previous work you know about. These details help the team decide what needs assessment on site.
Discuss removal, protection of adjoining areas, material access and surface preparation. Concealed services need assessment as work progresses. Agree how any additional work discovered during refurbishment will be reviewed and approved.
Coordinate services and ceiling details
Review plumbing positions, lighting and the ceiling arrangement together. Confirm service routes and any access required after completion. Electrical work and the suitability of equipment for the room should be assessed by the appropriate professional.
Discuss plumbing and drainage, electrical installations and gypsum or ceiling work as connected parts of the refurbishment. Identify the checks required before surfaces are closed.
If other suppliers or contractors are involved, list their responsibilities and when their information or products must be available. Resolve fitting and connection positions before agreeing the final tiling layout.
Define preparation and tile laying
State the floor and wall areas to be tiled and provide tile dimensions where available. Discuss setting-out, cuts, trims, edges and junctions with sanitary fittings and adjoining finishes.
Make preparation, any required waterproofing system and installation-material responsibilities explicit. Confirm who supplies the specified system and how its interfaces are coordinated. Sequencing and curing requirements depend on the selected products and assessed site conditions.
Our floor and wall tiling page explains what to send for a tile-laying quotation. Waterproofing and any specialist work should be confirmed for the particular bathroom.
List supply and delivery responsibilities
For each fitting, tile, accessory, light or other product, record the supplier, selected item and expected availability. Identify installation materials separately from visible fittings.
If you supply products yourself, confirm suitability and required accessories before installation is scheduled. Discuss delivery, storage and what happens if an item is delayed or damaged. Open choices and missing products can affect the remaining sequence.
Prepare the enquiry and completion checklist
Send WS the location, existing and proposed layouts, photographs, fitting details, intended finishes and target dates. Explain whether the property remains occupied and what access is available.
The team can review the electrical, plumbing, gypsum and finishing work required within an agreed combined scope. Before proceeding, confirm inclusions, exclusions, change approval and how the completed room will be reviewed. The quotation comparison checklist helps keep preparation, supply and installation responsibilities clear.
